ALISON SWAN PARENTE
Founder & Trustee
Alison Swan Parente first studied social anthropology and went on to have a long career as a child and family psychotherapist both in the USA and the NHS and at the Women’s Therapy Centre. On “retirement” she founded the School of Artisan Food, a not-for-profit organisation which not only aims to raise aspirations, revive lost skills and provide routes into employment, but also looks at the future of food education in a rapidly changing economic, public health and environmental context.
LAUREN RATHBONE
Project Director
Lauren is a Registered Dietitian who, up until recently, worked as a Specialist Oncology Dietitian in the NHS. She graduated from the University of Surrey with first-class honors in Nutrition & Dietetics. She is a full member of the British Dietetic Association and registered with the HCPC. Her specialist interests include public health and sustainability. She is a true believer in the enjoyment of food!
ROSINA BORRELLI
Joint Strategic Lead for Mapping Secondary School Food Education
Rosina Borrelli has worked in food education since 2010 with various age groups. This has ranged from hands-on practical cooking to teaching more theoretical food systems models. With a background in managing change programmes, and currently pursuing a PhD in sustainability education, she also brings strategic and research skills to the team.
JAKE BARWOOD
Joint Strategic Lead for Mapping Secondary School Food Education
Jake is an award-winning chef and school food campaigner. His previous work includes community projects and education with FareShare, Chefs In Schools, the Food Museum and Hackney School of Food. Jake is passionate about increasing children’s access to nutritious and delicious food and hopes this role will enable food education to be put centre stage during a student’s time at secondary school.
LIANNA COURT
Food Education Specialist
Lianna is an experienced Food and Nutrition teacher who has worked in secondary schools for 16 years. She has taught students from various backgrounds and abilities. Lianna graduated from Manchester University with a BSc Hons and completed a PGCE in Food Education. She strongly believes that all children should have access to quality food education and should learn how to cook nutritious and tasty meals. Lianna emphasises the importance of enjoying the process of making and eating food, which can improve all aspects of life.

Sue’s background is in Banking, Finance and Admin. Sue has a great interest in food, cooking and introducing people to the joys of cooking good nutritious food
